7 WAYS TO GET FREE EBOOKS

Are you a voracious reader? I can devour a 300-page book in a day. Finding new books to fill my e-reader isn’t difficult, but paying for them can be a struggle in this day of high expenses and low wages. If you’re like me, books are a luxury I can’t always afford, so I’ve become an expert at finding inexpensive ways to read. Here are my TOP 7 IDEAS TO GET FREE BOOKS.

  1. LIBBY. I’ve only begun using Libby, and I’m in love. It’s a great way to borrow eBooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines from your local library. All you need is the app and a library card. Once you’ve downloaded your eBook, you can transfer it to your reading device of choice. I like reading on a Kindle Paperwhite.
  2. OVERDRIVE.  Overdrive is a website that pairs with schools and libraries to offer free eBooks.
  3. HOOPLA Like Overdrive and Libby, Hoopla offers digital content through libraries. Unlike the previous apps, however, Hoopla also offers comics, music, movies, and TV.
  4. ROMANCEBOOKSWORMS.COM. Free eBooks (sometimes in the thousands) are offered quarterly on this website and shared via participating authors. If you’re a subscriber to my newsletter, you’ll get notifications. You can subscribe here.
  5. AUTHOR NEWSLETTERS. Most authors communicate directly to readers through their newsletters. As a thank you for subscribing, you might receive a freebie. My subscribers currently receive a free download of Dirty Work, an enemies-to-lovers billionaire romance. Authors also deliver alerts for free eBooks from author friends, offer bonus content (short stories, epilogues, novellas, etc.), and ARCs (advanced reader copies).
  6. BECOME A REVIEWER. Authors needing reviews often give out free copies (ARCs) of their books to gain reviews. To participate, join an author-reader group on your favorite social media platform or use a review service like NET GALLEY or Hidden Gems.  I use BOOKSPROUT. These platforms offer free eBooks in exchange for reader reviews. There is no cost to join. Search these websites for your favorite genres or authors and receive alerts when new books become available.
  7. NEWSLETTER SERVICES. Authors may use a paid service to spread the news of their latest freebie. My current favorites are BOOKBUB, FREEBOOKSY, FUSSY LIBRARIAN, and REDFEATHER ROMANCE to spread the news of their latest freebie.
