The topic for this week is first kisses and was the brainchild of Kim Handysides.
I remember my first kiss very well. My boyfriend was a few years older than me and much wiser in the ways of the world. He went to a neighboring school. I was too young to date, so we met at the skating rink (which was the thing to do back then) on Saturday nights. My best friend’s mother was kind enough to deliver the girls and the boys met us there. She was concerned that my boyfriend was so much older than me and kept an eagle eye on us. We did manage to sneak off for a short time and that’s when it happened. I have to admit that it wasn’t the kiss of my dreams. In fact, I was so grossed out that I broke up with him and didn’t kiss another boy for two more years. Needless to say my parents were extremely relieved!
My girlfriends wanted to know all the details. I was the first of my group to be kissed and by an older man, no less. They were very disappointed in my report. We all decided to focus on our horses and give up boys until later. I am happy to report that I eventually met someone who changed my mind about kissing – thank goodness!
Well, that’s it for me this week. If you came here from the lovely Nina Mason, then thank you for stopping by. Please continue on to Sarah Hegger and her take on the first kiss.

How cute! And isn’t it gross when you’re young? I remember thinking “is this what everyone’s raving about?” Thanks for sharing!

Okay, I’m a dufus. I commented on the wrong one. 🙂
Anyway, I’m crossing my fingers my girls have the same first experience you did. Maybe I could arrange it somehow. Find a boy and tell him to make it extra slobbery. (I know. I’m a mean mom.)

Oh! I remember those Saturday nights at the ice rink so well. Dated a hockey jock for awhile, but mostly going to the ice rink was about hanging out, skating, trying not to freeze and flirting with boys. Fun times!

I refused to a a guy once in high school and he moved on to another girl the next day- kids are so wishy washy! Nice story.

Older men aren’t always all they’re cracked up to be! 🙂

In my neck of the woods it was Friday nights at the skating rink 🙂 I am very impressed you and your friends waited a few more years to dispute your first kiss and try it again LOL!!! Great blog!!!

I think we all went thru bad ones until we got to the good.
