Monday Mash-Up

Every now and then, I have to give my eyes a rest and get away from the computer and reading, so this weekend I revisited one of my favorite movies, Say Anything. Yes, I know it’s old school. And yes, I know most of you weren’t even born when it came out. That doesn’t make it obsolete. Despite the shoulder pads, mullets, and boom boxes, the main message still rings true – that love can conquer anything.

My two favorite quotes:

“I gave her my heart. She gave me a pen.”

Diane: Nobody thinks it will work, do they?

Lloyd: No. You just described every great success story.

I love that Lloyd never gives up hope even when hope seems futile. From the very beginning he dares to dream. And how can anyone deny the power of that scene where he holds up the boom box and plays “In Your Eyes”? I’ve been a fan of John Cusack (Lloyd Dobler) and Cameron Crowe (Writer, Director) ever since.

If you are looking for a light, romantic movie, you’ve got to check this one out.
