After dealing with another flat tire today, I’m in need of a powerful cocktail. And I’m thinking that nothing but whiskey is going to suffice.
So here is the cocktail of the week.
Blackberry Sage Old Fashioned
6 Blackberries
1 oz Sage (fresh)
1 Sage leaf and blackberry (fresh) for garnish
¾ oz Sage simple syrup
1 cup Granulated sugar
1 Ice, cracked
1-1/2 oz. Bourbon (get the good stuff)
3 dashes Peychaud bitters
1 cup water
I like to throw all the liquid ingredients into a shaker with ice to mix everything. Place the blackberries and a sage leaf in a highball glass and muddle. It brings out the flavor of sage and blackberry. Pour in the cocktail mixture, and garnish with a sage leaf and fresh blackberry.
It’s got a good kick but is nice and refreshing, too!
