This week we are mixing it up again with a little flash fiction using the words candle, scarf, and chocolate. My mind is racing! So here goes…

The candle on the dresser extinguished leaving her in total darkness. The bedroom door creaked open. Her nostrils flared at the masculine scent that wafted through the room; a mixture of leather, cologne, and soap. Footsteps, soft and stealthy, grew closer.
He was in the room, lurking in the shadows. She strained to see through the blackness of the night. Something soft whispered across her forearm. She shrank into her chair. He was very, very close. The softness fluttered over her legs. As her eyes adjus
ted to the dark, she saw the blue silk scarf her husband had given her for her birthday.
“Not a word.” His breath hot against her ear, he tied the scarf over her eyes and pressed something hard to her lips. It tasted sweet. “Now open.”
She parted her lips and was rewarded by a small square of chocolate on her tongue.
“Happy anniversary, baby,” her husband whispered.
